Current Research Interests

My current research interests include first of all stress.  Though this topic has received considerable research in years past, there is little research into the topic of the stress that counselors specifically face.  Additionally, I am interested in researching burnout as an end component of stress.  I also believe there is a need to research further into each component of the counseling process, especially the referral process.  Many clients are worked with which should be referred.  Research should evaluate why clinicians frequently neglect to refer clients, and how to improve the efficacy of properly referring clients when a clinician is not competent in a specific area, struggles with counter transference, or is overloaded.  Finally, I have interest in researching the use and integration of spirituality in counseling.
